Tim's Cajun Kitchen: Reviews & Ratings
It may not look like much, but the food is so amazing that I really felt like I was back in Louisiana. The Gator Bites were fried to perfection. The jambalaya was better than I've had since leaving Nola, and the bread pudding with butter rum sauce could change a person's religion. And the fried oyster Po'boy made even me like fried oysters. Cannot crow how often I'm going to be going back here.
Let me tell you, if you are looking for fresh delicous authentic Cajun cuisine for affordable prices. This is the place to go. Went on a lunch break with a party of 7, our orders came out quickly and steaming. Everyone had different orders and it all was delicous. I highly recomend the fried gator poboy. It was the perfect ammount of spices with a crispy exterior and a juicy interior. This place is now my new favorite Cajun resturant. The service was also amazing. The waiter checked on us multiple times, made sure our drinks were constantly refilled and took great care of us. He was the best. I highly recomend this place 10/10.
If you're in the mood for flavorful food and don't mind a few quirks, this spot is worth a visit. The food is undeniably good, well, prepared and satisfying…although the portion sizes are on the smaller side considering the price point. When you first walk in, you're met with a strange, aquarium-like smell that’s a bit off-putting, especially since there’s not a single fish tank in sight. It’s more of a musty, damp scent that doesn’t exactly scream "appetizing." Still, once you're seated, the place has a cozy, albeit crowded, charm. Seating is moderately comfortable, but every table we encountered had some sort of wobble, and a few had sticky surfaces, probably from soap residue, but still not ideal. The atmosphere is lively and close-knit, which some might find charming and others claustrophobic. The staff is generally courteous and does their job well, but no one goes out of their way to make the experience exceptional. It’s more of a get-your-food-eat it and go- kind of vibe. Bottom line: come for the taste, stay if you're not too picky about the details.
I’ve been meaning to try this place out for a while. Outside doesn’t look like much and the inside gives an old fashioned, rustic vibe. Ordered Tim’s Famous Hot Wings and a bowl of their Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya. The jambalaya was a Cajun style jambalaya as it wasn’t tomato based so it had the lighter color than the Creole style reddish tomato based jambalaya. It came out nice and hot. I’m a firm believer of salting during the cooking process, but the dish was borderline threshold of being too salty. The flavor was there though and was on par with what you would find in New Orleans. Just be sure to taste your food before adding additional salt. The hot wings are smoked and then flash fried to give it a bit of crispiness. They came out steaming hot. They overcooked the fry process a little too much as the wings were a little dry. The flavor however was enough to overlook the overcooked chicken. Great smoky flavor and seasoned very well. The heat level of the spiciness was not really very hot and was pretty much Louisiana hot sauce levels, but the chicken was delicious nonetheless. Additional points go to the excellent service from the staff, who were attentive and personable. I’ll definitely be back.
The food was incredible. The shrimp poboy and the onion rings were the best I've ever had! The jambalaya was great, but the rice was a bit overcooked. With all that said, not sure how I feel about the atmosphere. It's a dark old building in a fenced off area, in the bathroom nothing works right, and it was empty at 5:00pm. I almost turned around and walked right back out. I'm glad I didn't though, because the food was good enough that I would definitely come back.
Nice, chill, restaurant with Southern hospitality. Fantastic service and friendly folks. Heard good things about the squash casserole but it's only available during lunch. Did the pick 2 combo with the chicken and sausage gumbo and boudin, both had good flavor and consistency. Fried okra with a peppy dip was delicious. The dinner roll was light, buttery, had a lightly seasoned crust. I could probably eat a dozen of those by themselves. The bread pudding did not hit it for me. The raisins were good and the rum sauce was excellent but the center was too dense and the outer layer too chewy. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and will probably come back again to try some of the other items.
Tim's Cajun Kitchen is hands down my favorite restaurant in the Huntsville area. When it comes to Cajun cuisine, it ranks among the best I've ever experienced. During a recent dinner visit, I indulged in the Dinner Platter (3 options) with seafood gumbo, seafood jambalaya, fried okra, and the irresistible bread pudding. The food was not only delicious but incredibly comforting, making it a challenge to put my utensils down. Our waitress embodied the true spirit of Southern hospitality, enhancing the overall dining experience. If you have any fondness for Cajun cuisine, this spot is an absolute must-visit. And trust me, the bread pudding is nothing short of exceptional—it's easily one of the best desserts I've ever had and the ultimate bread pudding treat. Just reminiscing about this place has me craving their food all over again.
This place is a hidden treasure!!! The food was amazing and the service was friendly. Can't wait to visit again.
